Legislative Affairs
What We Do
The role of the Legislative Affairs Department is to monitor the development of legislation related to education and youth issues under consideration by the Board of Education, the County Council, and the Maryland General Assembly, to propose positions on said issues, to draft testimony on said issues for presentation in the appropriate forums, and to coordinate MCJC lobbying and testimony efforts. We also advise the President on procedural rules during all General Assembly and Executive Board meetings and maintain the General Assembly and Executive Board legislative chart.

Hi everyone! I am Taelyn Kim, one of the directors of Legislative Affairs. I am a 7th grader at Roberto Clemente MS and this is my second year with MCJC. Last year, I was a deputy in the Legislative Affairs department. I’m also involved with my school’s SGA as a class representative. A few fun facts about me: I play golf with a junior league, love reading, and am a huge fan of Stray Kids. If you want to learn more about Legislative Affairs, contact me at taelynkim7@gmail.com. I’m excited to work with everyone in MCPS!
